Great design outlasts trends. As a Vienna-based design agency with a sharp focus on packaging design, we had the privilege of shaping the visual foundation for the renowned Portuguese winery Poeira in the Douro Valley over 20 years ago. The result is a label design that proves true timelessness doesn’t age – it matures.
The winery’s name translates to “dust” – a brilliant cue for a playful twist in the design. Our visual wit breaks away from the conventional patterns of wine label design: the labels feature photographs of vacuum cleaner hoses. While abstract at first glance, their form and structure blend so harmoniously into the overall composition that they instinctively evoke the delicate, winding curves of vine tendrils.
This project demonstrates how we approach brand concepts at Alessandri Design: handcrafted, intellectually driven and with a touch of subtle humour. A label that, even after two decades on the shelf, feels just as fresh, bold and modern as it did on day one.
