What the farmer eats

Schwarzbergerhof, Austria

The Schwarzbergerhof estate in the Mühlviertel district is a textbook example of organic, done the right way: Old breeds are raised together in herds and slaughtered on the farm without the stress of transportation to a slaughterhouse. What’s more, everything is used – from nose to tail. In other words, just like it used to be.

To draw attention to the Schwarzberghof’s back-to-the-roots approach and unprepossessing self-image, we picked up on the almost extinct art of vernacular painting for the packaging design – putting a fresh spin on rustic art and sustainability. Background colours, pictograms and examples of rustic art correspond to and complement the range of sauces, spreads and – since a short time ago – jams. Bon appetit!
