Never pressed for ideas

Steinschaden, Austria

This wine is all about consistent quality. At some point around the middle of the 20th century, grandfather Steinschaden snapped up – and started using – the oldest winepress in Europe (built in 1564). Today, it has pride of place in the wine cellar right next to one of the largest wooden barrels in the German-speaking countries.

We couldn’t help but pay a visit – and lapped up everything on show, including the fascinating schematic drawings for the press. And in no time at all, the decision was taken to use these drawings as the blueprint for the new corporate design for the extensive Steinschaden range. The turnstile has adorned the logo since 2017 – complemented by an elegant seal and box design. And ideally will continue to do so for the next 500 years!
